Properties of Base Steel
Steelcorp's GALVALUME 55™ is available in Commercial Quality (CQ) steel as per ISC 9364 or Commercial Steel (CS) as per ASTM A792/792M.

These are defined in the following tables showing the different strength levels and formability attributes.

Nominal Thickness and Widths

GALVALUME 55™ is produced from a wide range of thickness and widths. GALVALUME 55™ can be ordered from nominal thickness of 0.300 mm up to 1.200 mm, with full widths of 915mm and 1220 mm. Slitted widths can also be accomodated.

Coating Weight / Mass

Coating Weight (measured as grams of coating per square meter, g/m2, total both sides) is an important factor in the effective application of GALVALUME 55™ sheet. Galvalume 55™ has a coating weight of from AZ70- AZ150 grams per square meter.

Surface Finish

GALVALUME 55™ has a distinctive copyrighted smooth, flat, fine spangle with white uniform crystaline appearance. The spangle may vary in size from very small to as large as 100 mm in diameter. For many applications, this attractive, bright, faceted finish is desired. From a distance, the sheet exhibits a uniform, reflective appearance. When the product is intended to be painted, it is often desirable to order an Extra Smooth finish or Skinpassed. Skinpassing or temper rolling imparts a smoother surface, however, and develops into a matte- finish appearance and therefore, is less reflective than the spangled finish.
